The workshop, led via Zoom Platform, was held by Julien Fischmeister, member of the International Prison Observatory (French section) and PhD candidate.
The opening speech was given by Claudio Paterniti (Associazione Antigone), who made an overall presentation of the 2-year B-Competent project.
The training aimed to take stock of the situation of foreign detained persons in France: firstly, from the point of view of their over-representation in the penal system and in prison, secondly concerning the particularity of their conditions of detention. Finally, a long focus made it possible to understand the administrative consequences of imprisonment, in particular on the stay in France and the risks of expulsion at the end of the sentence. The end of the online Workshop was devoted to Question Time between the speaker and the participants, around issues encountered in their respective professional practices.
The Workshop was attended by 26 participants: mainly prison workers, students and volunteers from associations (La Cimade, International Prison Observatory).
